Progress Log – Slowdown effects
Today I worked on adding some kind of effect which would occur whenever a player was fragged. I wanted it to be an easily noticeable effect of some description; A text label appearing to show a point increase wasn’t going to be adequate.
I wanted an effect that would let everybody playing know that something had happened, as well as something that would (for the player responsible for the kill) feel good to be the cause of. Having been inspired by Samurai Gunn and its approach to showing kills, I wanted to do something similar but appropriate. After a while spent considering different options, I settled on a slow motion effect. I tweaked around with different styles for a few minutes and came up with the following, which I’m pretty happy with. For the moment at least. 😛
